How much does the Tata Nexon Ev battery replacement costs?

In the previous year, a total of 35,000 units of Tata Nexon were sold in India which makes it the highest selling 4 wheeler electric vehicle of 2022. Tata nexon is an electric SUV which comes in two variants such as Max and Prime, and their driving range is 437 km and 312 km on one single charge.

Tata Nexon Max variant’s battery is 40.5 kWh Lithium Ion battery, and on the other hand the prime variant offers a 30.2 kWh Lithium Polymer battery. The batteries are made in India, and come with a battery life warranty of eight years or 160,000 km. As reported by a Tata Nexon Ev user, the placement of the battery may cost you around 7 lakhs, although the viral post is not approved by the manufacturer. A few specifications of Tata Nexon Ev battery pack are as follows:

  • Supports both DC and AC fast charging
  • Has IP 67 rating which gives full protections from dust and water
  • Provide multi-mode regenerative brakes
  • Feature a cylindrical shaped cell to radiate exude heat easily

The cost of battery replacement is the biggest issue buyers are facing before choosing the Tata Nexon EV. But the fact is apart from the premium technology, batteries are the most expensive part of an electric vehicle to manufacture. Nexon EV has a 30.2 kWh battery pack and cost per kWh is around 15,000 to 20,000 in India. So, the battery replacement will cost around 6.04 lakhs.

However, do not need to worry about the battery replacement costs as the Tata motor is already offering a battery life warranty of 8 years/160000 km. 8 years of battery shelf life is more than good for some users. Battery degradation is rare, but it may occur if the battery pack has defects from the beginning stage, used in rough weather, and if charged or discharged haphazardly.
